4/10/1938 – 4/8/2012
On April 8, 2012, Burford Corp. lost a long time employee and friend, Don Ivey. Don began his work at Burford in 1965 in his hometown of Maysville, Oklahoma. He was instrumental in the growth of Burford Corp. for the last 47 years, working in nearly every part of the company at one time or another.
In the early 1970s, Don headed up the Sales and Service branch of the company in Windsor, England for several years. He traveled the world selling and servicing Burford equipment, doing his part to establish the Burford ‘brand’.
Through his work at Burford, Don served the baking industry as a member of the American Society of Baking, the Allied Trades of the Baking Industry, and the Bakery Equipment Manufacturer’s Association. Don served as president of BEMA from 1994 to 1995. He had been active as a member since 1985 and served on nearly every committee available until becoming President. He was presented the BEMA Lifetime Achievement award in December of 2011.
Don will be remembered by his friends and coworkers for his dedication, compassion and warming smile. He will be greatly missed.
