The company got it’s start in the bakery business when they invented the first twist tie machine for packaged bread. After becoming an industry standard as the preferred bag closure company, Burford expanded their business by venturing into spraying and decorating systems.

Burford’s expertise became well known throughout the baking industry as they innovated new products for high-speed bread and bun lines.
Today, product lines include systems for seeding and topping, enrobing, water splitting, glaze spraying, dough centering and bag closing.

Burford Corp. was purchased by Middleby Corporation in 2017 and later spun off into a new publicly traded company called Midera Food Processing in 2026.
