Technical Writer

Responsible for writing and editing technical materials such as equipment manuals, operating/maintenance instructions, setup/assembly, sanitation procedures and addendums including layout design and formatting in an engineer-to-order manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collect, and edit technical information to use in final documentation
  • Produce manuals, install guides, and other supporting documents to communicate complex and technical information appropriately to the end user
  • Create/maintain operator manuals for existing and new machines
  • Create/maintain assembly documentation for manufacturing personnel
  • Create/maintain installation guides for machine installations/field parts replacement
  • Collect and compile documents, manuals, and files to be translated
  • Manage the expectations of translation projects with service providers
  • Select or create drawings, graphics or diagrams to explain material, procedures, and concepts
  • Edit, standardize and format material
  • Maintain orderly file systems and records of work and revisions
  • Interact with multiple departments to determine specifications and subject material

Qualifications/Experience

Preferred:

  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • CE product marking experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Required:

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Word required
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Capability to learn new software programs and retain the information
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
  • Creative aptitude
  • Ability to think critically

Preferred:

  • Experience with SolidWorks Composer
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically InDesign (Illustrator, Photoshop a plus)
  • Experience in graphic design
